§ Mr. SITCHasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he has considered as to the advisability of lending to the Ministry of Health for the purposes under its national housing scheme of part of the large balance standing to the credit of depositors in the Post Office Savings Bank at a small rate of interest, sufficient only to cover the cost of administration and to prevent any loss to the depositors concerned.
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe machinery of the Post Office Savings Bank Fund already achieves in essence what the hon. Member proposes in his question.
