§ Sir J. DAVIDSONasked the Secretary of State for Air whether Colonel Douglas, of the Brambles, Lee-on-Solent, has been officially informed that his house is being purchased by the Air Ministry; and, in view of the fact that Colonel Douglas is only being paid £9 4s. 8d. monthly by way of furnished rent, he will see that this sum is increased to the level of rents paid for similar houses under the conditions which obtain at present?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLPreliminary negotiations have been opened with Colonel Douglas for the purchase of The Brambles by the Air Ministry. This property was taken under the Defence of the Realm Act, and compensation was agreed in September, 1918, at a lump sum payment of £41 8s. 11d., and a monthly payment of £9 4s. 8d. If Colonel Douglas is dissatisfied with the rent then agreed, it is open to him to ask that the case may be submitted to the Defence of the Realm Losses Commission.
