§ Mr. RONALD McNEILLasked the President of the Board of Education whether the benefits conferred on teachers by the Act of 1918 in regard to remuneration and pension is retrospective as regards retired teachers in Scotland, but not as regards those in England and Wales; and, if so, what is the reason for this difference of treatment?
§ Mr. FISHERAs I have already explained in the House, the superannuation system for teachers in England and Wales has been, and still is, different from that for teachers in Scotland, I understand that the additional benefits given to retired teachers in Scotland are provided out of funds accumulated under the Pensions Scheme in force prior to 1919.
