§ Mr. DAWESasked the President of the Board of Education, whether he is aware that the public elementary schools at Dartmouth have recently been closed for 13 weeks by order of the local medical officer of health; and whether he or the local education authority propose to take any steps by way of an inquiry or otherwise to prevent a repetition of such closing.
§ Mr. FISHERI am informed that all the Public Elementary Schools in Dartmouth were closed from November 11th to February 9th at the requisition of the Medical Officer of Health of the Local Sanitary Authority (with the concurrence of the County Medical Officer of Health), in accordance with Article 57 of the Code of Regulations for Public Elementary Schools, on account of the prevalence of diphtheria and scarlet fever. There seem to be no grounds for my intervention.
