DAVIESasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the preparation of the Estimates by the Finance Committee of the Cabinet, he will appoint small Committees of business men from this House to be attached to the various 2437W spending Departments and to examine and report their views upon the needs of such Departments for the coming financial year?
§ The PRIME MINISTERThe expenditure of nearly all the large Departments has recently been examined by the Select Committee on National Expenditure, and special Committees have considered the staff of certain Departments. I am not prepared to accept the further suggestion in the hon. Member's question.
