§ Mr. SHORTasked the Minister of Food whether consumers will be represented upon the Fair Prices Committees he proposes to appoint?
§ Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSONIt is not proposed that such Fair Prices Committees as are at present contemplated in connection with particular foodstuffs should be nominated by the Food Controller. Such Committees will be voluntary organisations created by the trade itself, and containing representatives of every branch of the trade, including the co-operative movement. It is, however, proposed that the Ministry of Food should be directly represented on such Committees. The establishment of these Committees does not in any way affect the functions of the Consumers' Council which will continue to advise the Food Controller from the special point of view of the consumers.
