Mr. ALFRED T. DAVIESasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture whether it is now proposed to stabilise the rates on tithe paid by clergy; whether it is proposed to reconsider the incidence of rating by assessment committees; and whether the Government is prepared to abolish the rating of professional incomes in the case of the clergy of the Established Church?
Sir A. BOSCAWENI would refer the hon. Member to the provisions of the Ecclesiastical Tithe Rentcharge (Rates) Bill, which was read a Second time by this House last Wednesday.
