Colonel NEWMANasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions whether the Central Control (Liquor) Board has still the power to alter or revoke any Regulations previously made with regard to the consumption of liquor; if so, is it his intention to remove the restrictions compelling the public to purchase beer at licensed premises, thereby penalising the business of family-trade brewers; and can he say why these Regulations are maintained in force when the necessity of a state of war no longer exists?
Mr. J. HOPEThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative; with regard to the rest of the question, I understand that there will be no change in the policy of the Board pending the establishment of the new Authority which it is proposed to create by legislation.
