HC Deb 04 November 1919 vol 120 cc1339-40W
Lieut.-Commander CHILCOTT

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will state the price of tinplates when last under control and at the present time; and whether the Government can take action in any way to reduce the present price?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I am informed that the maximum price of tinplates when control ceased was 33s. 10½. per box of 112 sheets (108 lbs.) f.o.t. at makers' works, and that the corresponding price at the present time is 41s. The desirability of instituting an inquiry into the price of tinplates is under consideration.
