HC Deb 04 November 1919 vol 120 c1337W
Sir R. COOPER

asked the Home Secretary on what grounds a naturalised German named Kettnar, living at Penzance, was released from internment and allowed to return to work in Cornwall?

Mr. CHURCHILL

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply. I have no knowledge that Kettnar was ever interned. He was removed from Penzance and neighbourhood by an Order dated the 19th August, 1915, under No. 14 of the Defence of the Realm Regulations, as his presence there during hostilities was considered a danger to the public safety and defence of the Realm. In March last, owing to the altered circumstances his presence there was no longer considered dangerous and therefore the Order under No. 14 of the Defence of the Realm Regulations was revoked and he was allowed to return.
