§ Sir B. STAN1ERasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether he can give any figures showing the number of heifers or cows that have been inoculated against epizootic abortion, and the result, during 1918?
Sir A. BOSCAWENSeparate figures for 1918 are not available, but in the two years 1917 and 1918 33,866 doses of vaccine were issued. Owing to war conditions complete returns were furnished only as regards 3,583 vaccinated animals, and amongst these the abortions amounted to 4.5 per cent., whereas amongst the animals which were not vaccinated but which were on the same premises the abortions amounted to 17 per cent.
