§ Major M'KENZIE WOODasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether the Government has decided to guarantee to fish-curers a. minimum price for cured herrings?
Sir A. BOSCAWENNo, Sir. A proposal to this effect has been considered by the War Cabinet, but the Government do-not see their way to guarantee a price. They are, however, prepared in principle to share any loss reasonably incurred by the fish-curers upon a limited number of barrels. The curers have been so advised, and the Government await further suggestions from them as to how such an arrangement can be put into effect.
