Lieut.-Colonel ALLENasked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that many local authorities have applied to the Trophies Committee, through the Lord-Lieutenants of counties, asking for trophies as souvenirs of the War; will he say how far it will be possible to meet these applications; whether be is aware that there are many guns of all sizes in Belgium and France still in the position in which they were captured by the British forces; and if he will cause these to be brought over so that all the applicants may be supplied with these souvenirs?
§ Mr. FORSTERA certain number of captured guns and other trophies unclaimed by units have already been placed at the disposal of Lord-Lieutenants and will shortly be distributed. Further allocations will be made as guns become available. France and Belgium are being 605W cleared of captured war material as quickly as possible, but I understand that in any case the number of applicants for guns will far exceed the number available for distribution.
