§ Mr. ALFRED DAVIES (Clitheroe)asked the Food Controller whether it is proposed to abolish coupons for meat; if so, whether he is satisfied that the abolition of the coupon will not result in the revival of queues; and whether, in view of the undesirability of reviving such a system, he will give this matter serious consideration?
Mr. ROBERTSCoupons for meat were abolished on 3rd May; although a retailer1782W may still require the customer's ration book to be produced when purchases are made in order to ensure, by marking spaces in the book, that an excess amount is not supplied. I will take all steps in my power to prevent the revival of queues if the need should arise.
