§ Mr. WILLIAM YOUNGasked the Pensions Minister whether he will take steps to ensure that, in view of the large number of officers and men of the officer class now demobilised, all war pension staff appointments, such as the appointments of secretaries and treasurers of war pension committees, held by men who have not served shall be cancelled, in order that such appointments may be given to men who have served?
§ Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANSIn making new appointments to their staff the war pensions committees are now obliged to give preference to candidates who have served in the War, but, in view of the experience which the present staff have gained during the War in the working of the Warrants and Regulations, and the1144W good service rendered, it would neither be practicable nor fair to cancel all existing appointments as the hon. Member suggests.
