§ Sir EDWARD GOULDINGasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, having regard to the present position of the Post Office Savings Bank, it is proposed to make any provision to meet the depreciation in the securities held by the Postmaster-General against the liabilities of the Post Office to depositors; and, if so, what is the nature and extent of such provision?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThis is a question which has been often discussed in this House when for any reason the value of securities has fallen. The security for the deposits in the Post Office Savings Bank is the Consolidated Fund. I do not think any special measures are required at the present time.
