§ Major Sir SAMUEL SCOTT
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether a recommendation was submitted by the Army Council to the Treasury that ex-soldier clerks employed by the War Office should be placed on a permanent (pensionable) basis; and what action the Treasury propose to take?
§ Mr. BALDWIN
The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The Treasury have asked the War Office to defer the matter for another twelve months, by which time it is hoped that a number of questions of a general character, 603W affecting the Civil Service as a whole and having an important bearing on the present recommendation, will have been settled.
