THOMASasked the Secretary of State for War what is the total expenditure to date in connection with the East African campaign; whether he will state the number of Staff officers, officers, and men, both European and Native, at present on service in the country, and the daily cost of the same; and whether, in view of the alleged extravagant manner in which this campaign has been conducted, he is prepared to institute an inquiry into the details of and responsibility for the expenditure on the whole campaign?
§ Mr. FORSTERIn the time available it has not been possible to obtain the details asked for, but if my hon. and gallant Friend will repeat his question in two weeks time I will give him such information as is available on the points raised. It is not proposed to institute an inquiry as suggested in the last part of the question.
