§ Sir HERBERT NIELDasked the President of the Local Government Board whether he is aware of the damage occasioned by the floods which have recently occurred in the Lea and Stort Valleys; and whether, in view of the fact that there is no single authority charged with the duty of preventing such flooding, he will consider the advisability of calling a conference of representatives of the county councils of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Middlesex, London, and other local authorities who are interested in the areas, together with the Lee Conservancy Board and the Lee Valley Drainage Commission, to consider the question of adopting remedial measures?
§ Major ASTORPerhaps I may refer my hon. and learned Friend to the reply which I gave to somewhat similar questions on 1311W Thursday last. The investigations which the President has promised in regard to the Lea Valley will also embrace the Stort Valley. The suggestion made in my hon. Friend's question will be borne in mind.
