HC Deb 04 March 1919 vol 113 cc249-50W
Mr. SEDDON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in giving to the Staffordshire Potteries Waterworks an Order giving them relief to the extent of the additional revenue estimated to accrue from increased charges, any opportunity was given to the county borough of Stoke-on-Trent or other users of water supplied by the company to lodge objections to the increased charges?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

The application of the Staffordshire Potteries Waterworks Company for an Order under the Statutory Undertakings (Temporary Increase of Charges) Act was advertised in a local newspaper, and notice was served by the Company upon all the local authorities in their area of supply in accordance with the requirements of the Board of Trade. Objections of a general nature were lodged by the county borough of Stoke-upon-Trent, and were duly considered by the Board of Trade before they made an Order in a somewhat modified form.
