§ Mr. REMERasked the Prime Minister if he will state the date on which the Government auditor examined the books of the North Eastern Railway Company; what was the amount on that date standing to the credit of the profit and less account; and what is the date of the next audit?
§ Sir A. GEDDESI have been asked to reply to this question. The accounts of the controlled railway companies after being audited in the ordinary way are examined by a committee of accountants and are submitted by them to the Government auditor. The North Eastern Railway Company's accounts for 1918 have not yet been so submitted, and I cannot name a date when they will be.
