§ Mr. CHADWICKasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will consider the desirability of sending delegations of employer and labour represent- 2135W tives to the United States to study labour conditions and labour-saving devices and organisation?
§ Sir A. GEDDESWhile I agree with the hon. Member that it is moat desirable that all possible steps should be taken to improve methods of production in this country by encouraging the study of methods and conditions in foreign countries, I am inclined to think that such expeditions as he suggests should be arranged by the trades concerned rather than by the Government.
