§ Sir J. CRAIGExcluding applications not proceeded with and those still under consideration, the number received is 6,815. Of this number, pensions of the average annual value of£38 were granted in 5,125 cases, gratuities of the average value of£97 were granted in 167 cases, and 1,523 applications were rejected. It is not possible to state the maximum income where a pension has been granted.
