Lieut.-Colonel THORNEasked the Minister of Health whether there is an institution or institutions to which children can be sent whose fathers have been killed during the War, with a view to having them properly educated, so as to give the mother a chance of obtaining employment?
§ Mr. FISHERMy right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. There are a number of institutions intended for the education of fatherless children, but I am not aware whether any of them confine themselves to, or give special facilities for, the admission of children whose fathers have been killed during the War. I understand that the Special Grants Committee of the Ministry of Pensions have power to make grants towards the education of such children in certain circumstances.
