§ Mr. LEONARD LYLEasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to the ease of Mrs. Elizabeth Lampard, who was recently evicted from her house, in spite of the fact that she was in an advanced state of pregnancy and that there was no other house for her to go to; and whether he will cause inquiry to be made into the, circumstances of the case?
§ Mr. SHORTTI have no power to intervene in such cases, but I have made inquiry, and find that the house in question had been condemned as unfit for human habitation, and a closing order made by the local sanitary authorities as long ago as January last, and Mrs. Lampard had accordingly been given notice to quit again and again. She did not do so until the end of March or the beginning of April.
