HC Deb 27 February 1919 vol 112 c1969W
Mr. HAILWOOD

asked the Food Controller if he intends to compensate grocers and small shopkeepers for the difference in price on their stocks of tea which the proposed reduction will make, seeing that they have been requested to carry adequate stocks of controlled goods to meet difficulties that might arise through probable transport troubles?

Mr. PARKER

As regards the question of a rebate on stocks held by retailers on 24th March next, when the suspension of the Order governing the distribution and price of tea comes into effect, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given on 25th February. It does not follow that any loss would be incurred by retailers on the sale of such stocks after that date.
