§ Mr. BILLINGasked the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the house shortage in London; whether he is aware of the existence of a number of large basement houses which are peculiarly suitable to conversion into maisonettes; whether he is aware that ground landlords are preventing their conversion; and whether, having regard to the increasing shortage of houses in London and the suburbs, he will take such steps as are necessary to assist the public in this matter?
