HC Deb 14 February 1919 vol 112 c444W
Mr. WATERSON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware of the resentment and unrest caused by the failure of sick persons to obtain spirits when medical certificates have ordered such; and, if so, whether any steps will be taken to meet the stated necessity?

Mr. McCURDY

I have been asked to reply. The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The question of increasing the percentage of spirits permitted to be withdrawn from bond for home consumption is under immediate consideration.

Mr. WATERSON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state what reasons of public policy or interest now justify the continuance of any restrictions upon the supply of spirits from bond?

Mr. McCURDY

I have been asked to reply. I can add nothing to the answer I have just given.
