§ Sir WILLIAM BULLasked the Home Secretary if his attention has been drawn to the overcrowding in carriages on the underground railways in the Metropolitan area, and to the probability that this overcrowding conduces to the spread of epidemic disease such as influenza; and whether His Majesty's Government intends to take remedial measures by facilitating other means of transport or otherwise?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANMy right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. I am aware of at overcrowding occurs on the underground railways, and this is to be regretted for various reasons, including that referred to in the question, will owing to the abnormal conditions now existing in London I fear it is difficult to provide an immediate remedy.
