HC Deb 15 December 1919 vol 123 cc70-1W
Sir DAVID DAVIES

asked the Minister of Health when the appointment of Commissioners for Wales, under the Ministry of Health Act, will be made; their number and their emoluments; the number of the staff to be appointed; and the total cost of the administration of the Department?

Dr. ADDISON

Four members have so far been appointed to the Welsh Board of Health; one, the chairman, permanent, and two members, temporary, who receive the same emoluments as were paid to them as Insurance Commissioners for Wales. The fourth member is the Housing Commissioner for Wales. This appointment is temporary and the holder draws a salary of £1,000 a year. The details of the number and scales of pay of the staff of the Welsh Board of Health are set out in the Supplementary Estimate (page 25) presented to Parliament on the 17th July last. The future establishment for the Welsh Board of Health is not yet settled; it is, in fact, being considered in consultation with the Treasury.

Colonel GRETTON

asked the Minister of Health how many secretaries and assistant secretaries are on the staff of the Welsh Board of Health; and what is the total number of persons now employed by the Board?

Dr. ADDISON

The present establishment of the Welsh Board of Health is set out in the Supplementary Estimate (page 25) issued on the 17th July last. The establishment is now in course of reorganisation. The future numbers will be subject to approval by the Treasury.
