HC Deb 11 December 1919 vol 122 cc1659-60W
Captain BOWYER

asked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been called to the case of Mr. R. Jones, of Grendon Underwood, Bucks; whether he is aware that Mr. Jones has over forty years' service to his credit, and as a reward has only been granted a pension of 11s. 5d. a week, together with a beautifully-embossed certificate of thanks for his long and faithful services; and whether, in view of the increased cost of living and the inadequacy of this reward for the services rendered, he will take steps to grant some more material assistance to Mr. Jones?

Mr. PEASE

Mr. Jones' pensionable service only dates from the 26th January, 1897, his service before that date being part-time. The pension which has been awarded to him is that prescribed by the Superannuation Acts, and I have no power to increase it. He received a lump sum of £84 14s. 7d. on retirement in addition to hir pension.
