§ Colonel MORDENasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Shipping Controller whether, in view of the feeling created by the continuance of the prohibition on the transfer of shipping owned by the Overseas Dominions to their own respective registers, he will consider the advisability of the immediate withdrawal of the prohibition?
Colonel WILSONThe Shipping Controller is prepared to give favourable consideration to applications for transfer to Dominion registry of vessels which were in fact owned by citizens of that Dominion before the War, or which were purchased by such citizens during the War, without special conditions as to retention of United Kingdom registry. He regrets that the necessity for maintaining the present system of control over British slipping makes it impossible for him to extend this concession at present.
