HC Deb 04 December 1919 vol 122 c645W
Major HENDERSON

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether it is proposed to introduce, for Scotland, legislation similar to the Nurses Registration Bill, the Public Libraries Bill, the Ferries Acquisition Bill, and the Agricultural Councils Bill at present or recently before the House; and, if so, whether such legislation will be introduced before or after Christmas?

Mr. MUNRO

Notice has been given today of the introduction of a Nurses Registration Bill for Scotland. As regards public libraries, I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the repy which I gave yesterday to the hon. Member for Central Edinburgh. Powers in connection with ferries are already vested in county councils in Scotland by the Local Government (Scotland) Act of 1908, and I have received no representations that they are inadequate. I propose to introduce legislation as to agricultural councils in Scotland at the earliest opportunity.
