HC Deb 02 December 1919 vol 122 cc251-2W
Mr. R. RICHARDSON

asked the Home Secretary whether there are any persons still interned under Regulation 14B of the Defence of the Realm Act; why they are not released; and how much longer it is proposed to imprison them?

Mr. SHORTT

There are no persons now interned in Great Britain under this Regulation.

Mr. RICHARDSON

asked the Home Secretary whether certain persons who have been released from internment under Regulations 14B a of the Defence of the Realm Act are required to register with the police, to abstain from travelling more than five miles from their residence and from entering any prohibited area, and to comply with other provisions of the Aliens Restriction Order notwithstanding their British nationality?

Mr. SHORTT

There are a few Orders to the effect indicated in the question still in force against British subjects who were interned during the War. In all such cases I am willing to withdraw the Orders when circumstances permit; and if the hon. Member has any case in mind and will let me know the name, I will have the case examined.
