§ Mr. ALFRED SHORTasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether timeserving members of the naval forces who have been prisoners of war are entitled to their final discharge in consequence thereof, or only on grounds of physical unfitness; and, if the latter, what provisions are made for such men to appear before medical boards?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAReturned prisoners of war are not entitled to discharge unless the period of service for which they engaged has expired. It is the duty of the medical officer of each ship or naval establishment to bring forward for survey by a medical board any men, who on joining a ship or establishment is not considered fit for further service.
