asked the Postmaster-General if he will say what is the total number of typists employed in the offices of provincial head postmasters; and how are they distributed throughout the country?

Mr. PEASE

The total authorised number of female typists in provincial head post offices is eighty-two, of whom sixty-eight are employed in English offices, eight in Scottish offices, and six in Irish offices. Two more are employed in the office of the controller of the postal district of Dublin, and three others in the corresponding office in Edinburgh.
