§ Mr. FFRENCHasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether the scheme to accommodate the working classes with up-to-date houses after the War, and which is to receive financial assistance from the Treasury, is to extend to 1125W Ireland; and, if so, whether the full cost of the scheme is to be met in the first instance by the local authority by means of a loan raised by them, and the State assistance to take the shape of a percentage of the loan charges sufficient to relieve the local authority of 75 per cent. of the annual deficit?

Friend has already stated in reply to previous questions, it is intended that Ireland shall participate in any measures submitted to Parliament for the improvement of housing conditions, and, with regard to, the remainder of the question, he is not yet in a position to make any statement on the subject.
