HC Deb 21 October 1918 vol 110 cc464-5W
Sir M. BARLOW

asked the Minister of Labour whether negroes have been employed in Salford and the neighbourhood; and, if so, whether he will take any and, what steps to protect white labour and to prevent mixed marriages in that area?

Mr. G. ROBERTS

I am not aware that negroes have recently been brought to the Salford district for employment. There are a few coloured men employed, as is usual in normal times, in and around the docks, and occasionally such men obtain employment in the town. If the hon. Member will supply me with particulars of what he has in mind, I will have inquiry made.
