HC Deb 14 November 1918 vol 110 c2912W
Mr. SOMERVELL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what compensation will be paid to members of the Chinese Labour battalions who have suffered injury from military operations during their period of service in France; and if a Grant will be made to the dependants in China of those who have been killed?

Mr. FORSTER

My right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. In cases of injury from military operations in France, members of the Chinese Labour Corps receive a maximum gratuity of 120 dollars for total disablement, and proportionally less for lower degrees of disablement. In cases of death attributable to service, the widow or other dependant receives a gratuity of 180 dollars.
