asked the Home Secretary what portion of the Supplementary Estimate of £1,200,000 for Police (England and Wales) represents the new Grant to the Metropolitan Police; what is the estimated cost in the current financial year of the recent increase of pay to the Metropolitan Police Force; and what is the total sum that will be received in that year by the Metropolitan Police Fund as a contribution from Imperial taxation?

The answer to the first part of the question is, £420,000; to the second part, the estimated net cost falling on the Metropolitan Police Fund is approximately £260,000; to the third part, the estimated total contribution receivable in 1918–19, excluding receipts in the nature of reimbursements for special services, is approximately £1,470,000.
