HC Deb 04 November 1918 vol 110 cc1808-9W
Lord H. CAVENDISH-BENTINCK

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether, in view of the fact that Private Thomborrow, No. 33996, 1/4th West Riding Regiment, aged eighteen, has been in the fighting line for the last few months, he will, in fulfilment of the pledge given in the House, secure his withdrawal?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I am making inquiries and will communicate with my Noble Friend as soon as possible.

Mr. KING

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that John Gerrard, a Wesleyan local preacher, aged forty-two, and Grade 3, has been court-martialled at Prees Heath Camp; whether his health is such as can stand punishment; and whether he will inquire of the doctor who asserted that if not a conscientious objector he would have been totally rejected?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I have been asked to answer this question. If my hon. Friend will furnish me with the name of Gerrard's unit and his regimental number, I will have inquiry made.
