Colonel THORNEasked the Minister of Munitions whether his attention has been drawn to the eviction of several munition workers in the Selby district; whether he is aware that an official of his Department made inquiries into the housing difficulties, was satisfied that there was a shortage of houses, and promised to report accordingly; and what action, if any, it is proposed to take in the direction either of preventing any further evictions or cooperating in the building of more houses?
§ Mr. KELLAWAYRepresentations have been received calling attention to the eviction of munition workers in Selby, and urging that, in view of the shortage of houses, the district should be declared a special area for the purposes of Regulation 2 a (2) of the Defence of the Realm Regulations. A local investigation has been made, and a decision as to the application of the Regulation will shortly be given.
