§ Sir RICHARD COOPERasked the Secretary for Scotland if his attention has been drawn to the increase of rents of houses in Glasgow, in some cases amounting to an increase of 100 per cent.; and what steps he is taking to protect the people of that city against unreasonable charges?
§ Mr. MUNROI assume the hon. Baronet refers to houses over £ 30 rental, the limit fixed by the Rent Restriction Act. I have received some complaints in regard to such houses, but none suggesting such an increase as 100 per cent. If the hon. Baronet has any evidence supporting such a figure I shall be glad to consider it. For the present I have nothing to add to my answer given to the hon. and learned Member for the Tradeston Division on the 30th January.
