§ Mr. JOYNSON-HICKSasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether New Army tunics with regimental buttons are now being issued to German prisoners of war; if so, why this is being done; and whether, if there are large stocks of this cloth, it could be dyed a different colour in order to save the feelings of our men who have fought against these prisoners and who hate to see them wearing our uniform?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONA certain amount of peace-pattern clothing for which there was no other outlet, has, from motives of economy, been issued for the use of German prisoners of war. Before such issue the regimental buttons and all distinctive trimmings are removed and the garments are all dyed except such as are already plain dark blue. These will not take any colour except blue and black.
