HC Deb 04 March 1918 vol 103 c1746W
Mr. WATT

asked the Secretary for Scotland on what date the last appointment of a senator of the College of Justice in Scotland was made and does-salary run from the date of appointment; and on what date the Courts of Justice rose in that year for the Long Vacation and for how long that Vacation lasted?

Mr. MUNRO

This appointment was made on the 21st July, 1917. The salary in such cases runs from the date of appointment. The Court rose on the 20th July and resumed on the 16th October. As stated in the reply given to the hon. Member for East Edinburgh on the 16th October last, it was hoped, when the preliminary steps were taken, to make the appointment, that the new judge would be installed before the Court rose.
