Major DAVIESasked the Undersecretary of State for War when the appointments of a number of principal chaplains and assistant principal chaplains are to be made; and whether he can make any statement to the House as to the considerations which will govern the appointment of chaplains to these posts?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONI hope the appointment of the principal chaplains will be announced almost immediately. It has been necessary to consult the military authorities in the command as to the assistants. I am not sure that I know what the hon. and gallant Member means by the last part of the question, but the main consideration will be the efficient administration of the chaplaincy services of the Army in the United Kingdom on somewhat the same lines as have been adopted with the Armies abroad.
