§ Captain SHEEHANasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether any definite understanding has been come to between him and the Departments concerned with the housing question in Ireland as to the policy of Irish rehousing after the War; has any estimate been formed of the national requirements of Ireland in this matter; and has any special sum been set apart to substantially and sufficiently meet the Irish case?
§ Mr. SHORTTI would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to a question asked by the hon. Member of the St. Patrick's Division of Dublin on the 11th April, in which it was stated that it is intended that Ireland shall participate in any measures submitted to Parliament for the improvement of housing conditions. With regard to the latter part of the question, it has been estimated by the Committee on Housing of the Irish Convention that £27,000,000 was the total amount of capital expenditure required to deal with the matter. I am not aware that a special sum has, up to the present, been set apart for the improvement of housing for Ireland.
