§ Mr. SNOWDENasked the President of the Local Government Board what payments are made to the manufacturers of the salvarsan substitutes as supplied to local authorities; and from what funds are these payments made?
Mr. FISHERThe payments made by local authorities to manufacturers for supplies of salvarsan substitutes are at the minimum rates prescribed by the licences issued by the Board of Trade, and are at the same rates as those charged to Government Departments for supplies of these preparations. The payments are made in the first instance from the funds of the local authorities, but 75 per cent. of their expenditure for this purpose is repaid by the Local Government Board
