Mr. T. WILSONasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware that soldiers are being employed in telephone exchanges ostensibly on definite military duties, but are also, especially in cases of emergency, employed on ordinary post office duties; that for the performance of these latter duties the soldiers receive only their military pay; and whether, in view of the fact that the soldiers are under the direct control of the War Office and the question of their pay is not one with 643W which the Post Office can deal, he will make inquiry into the matter and give instructions that civilian duties shall be paid for at the proper civilian rates?
