§ Colonel ASHLEYasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware that the fourpence a night now paid for billeting soldiers causes lodging-house keepers in Blackpool and elsewhere to be actually out of pocket for each soldier so billeted; and what action he proposes to take to relieve a particular section of the public of a burden which is justly a charge on the general taxpayer?
§ Mr. FORSTERI have been inquiring carefully into this matter, but it has not hitherto been established that the present rates leave the householder actually out of pocket. I shall, however, be glad to consider any further evidence to that effect which my hon. and gallant Friend can send me.
